It was a pleasure to attend ICC Conference on Sustainability in the Supply Chain on 10 June 2024.
Attending the Dubai International Arbitration Week in November 2024 was an absolute delight for everyone at AbbottDR. This dynamic event was not only a hub for learning and sharing legal insights but also a precious opportunity for networking. Over the week, we engaged in a series of enlightening conferences that showcased the latest trends and practices in international arbitration. The ambiance was filled with the enthusiasm of professionals from around the globe, allowing us to reconnect with old acquaintances and forge new relationships. Each conversation sparked potential collaborations and mutual growth in the mediation service sector. It was truly inspiring to be immersed in such a vibrant community that shares a commitment to excellence in dispute resolution. We look forward to applying the insights gained and nurturing the connections made as we continue to enhance our arbitration and mediation services at ArbDB Chambers, United Kingdom.
It was a privilege to be on the panel of judges for the AIADR Mediation Competition on 10th and 11th August 2024. The student contestants were judged on their abilities as mediator and mediation advocate. The standard was impressively high.
On 25th April 2024 John Abbott was part of a panel of experts discussing the state of arbitration in Africa at the joint International Practice Group and Lex Africa Conference in Casablanca.
It was a delight to attend the IBA and LCIA Arbitration Conferences in Singapore in February 2024. It was an opportunity to renew old acquaintances and to make new friends. As always the conferences were very well attended and this year it was lovely to see so many arbitration professionals from SE Asia in attendance. There was an interesting range topics including: The use of Mediation in Renewable Energy Disputes, Arbitrability, the use of Arbitration in ESG disputes and emerging areas where arbitration may be used in the future.
In September 2023 John walked over 250 miles of the Camino de Santiago from Ribadesella to Santiago de Compostela and raised more than £11,000 for The Alzheimer’s Society.
